About Lorbriqua 100mg Tablet

Lorbriqua 100mg Tablet contains lorlatinib 100mg, a prescription ALK and ROS1 tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) used as targeted therapy for eligible patients with ALK-positive metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Lorlatinib is designed to inhibit abnormal ALK signaling that can drive the growth and spread of ALK-positive cancer cells. In the United States, lorlatinib is marketed as Lorbrena® by Pfizer; the brand name Lorbriqua is used in several other markets.

Lorbriqua 100mg is the established 100mg tablet strength of lorlatinib and is used according to the prescribing oncologist's instructions. Molecular testing is required to confirm an appropriate ALK alteration before treatment.

What Is Lorbriqua 100mg Tablet?

Lorbriqua 100mg is an oral targeted cancer medicine containing lorlatinib.

Lorlatinib is a third-generation ALK inhibitor developed to inhibit ALK kinase activity, including activity associated with several ALK resistance mutations that can develop during treatment with earlier ALK inhibitors.

It is used for patients whose NSCLC contains an appropriate ALK rearrangement or alteration and whose disease meets the applicable treatment indication.

Lorbriqua 100mg for ALK-Positive Lung Cancer

The primary commercial and clinical search relationship is:

Lorbriqua 100mg → Lorlatinib 100mg → ALK Inhibitor → ALK-Positive NSCLC → Targeted Lung Cancer Therapy

Lorbriqua should only be used when the patient's cancer has been appropriately identified as ALK-positive and the treatment is clinically indicated.

Lorbriqua 100mg and Lorbrena®

Lorbriqua and Lorbrena contain the same active ingredient, lorlatinib, but the brand name varies by market.

Lorbrena® is the brand name used by Pfizer in the United States, while Lorbriqua® is used in certain other markets. The approved indication, packaging and regulatory labeling should be checked for the country where the medicine is supplied.

Where an appropriately authorized equivalent or generic product is available, relevant searches may include:

Lorlatinib 100mg, Generic Lorlatinib 100mg, Generic Lorbriqua 100mg, Generic Lorbrena 100mg, Lorlatinib 100mg Tablet, Lorlatinib Alternative, Lorbrena Alternative.

The term generic Lorbrena or generic Lorbriqua should only be used when the specific product has the appropriate regulatory status in the target market.

Lorbriqua 100mg Monitoring

Patients receiving lorlatinib may require regular monitoring of:

  • Blood pressure
  • Serum cholesterol
  • Triglycerides
  • Liver function
  • Kidney function
  • Neurologic and cognitive status
  • Mood and mental health
  • Weight and edema
  • Drug interactions

Lorlatinib has important interactions with CYP3A and other metabolic pathways. Patients should provide their oncologist and pharmacist with a complete list of medicines, supplements and herbal products they use.

Lorbriqua 100mg and Brain Metastases

ALK-positive NSCLC can spread to the brain. Lorlatinib has clinically important central nervous system penetration, making it particularly relevant in ALK-positive metastatic NSCLC involving or at risk of CNS disease.

However, treatment decisions for brain metastases depend on the patient's individual clinical condition, imaging findings and previous therapy and must be made by the treating oncology team.

How it works

Lorlatinib inhibits anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) and interferes with signaling pathways involved in the growth and survival of ALK-positive cancer cells.

ALK-positive NSCLC can contain abnormal ALK signaling that promotes uncontrolled cell proliferation. Lorlatinib blocks this kinase activity and can inhibit signaling from both the primary oncogenic ALK alteration and several acquired resistance mutations.

Lorlatinib also has the ability to penetrate the blood-brain barrier, an important characteristic in ALK-positive NSCLC because the disease can involve the central nervous system.
